Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a 12 week out-patient program with monitored exercise sessions. It is a proven effective way to reduce the risk of a future cardiac event by approximately 25% and reduces costly hospital admissions. It is a safe and effective way to improve endurance, strength and confidence through a combination of exercise, education and making heart healthy choices. The support from the Cardiac Rehab team and other participants helps a great deal with recovery and improving a patient’s sense of well-being and quality of life.

Who is eligible for Cardiac Rehabilitation?

You may be eligible if you have had any of the following heart events: heart attack, stent(s), or Heart Surgery (bypass, valve or transplant). You may also be eligible if you have been treated medically for chest pain or otherwise known as Stable Angina. Please check with your physician or call a member of the Cardiac Rehab Team to be sure.

A Matter of Safety

Exercising after you have been diagnosed with heart disease is safer under constant monitoring by licensed nurses using our state-of-the-art telemetry system. This technology alerts our staff early to any abnormal EKG changes that may go unnoticed even by the patient during an exercise session. We are able to provide the appropriate intervention before symptoms occur.

Accreditation

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Central Florida Regional Hospital is accredited and certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. This means that we have met stringent national quality measures and the highest standard of care for our cardiac rehabilitation patients.
